AGED RESIDENT ANSWERS CALL
James F. Pierce, one of the oldest residents of Tippecanoe county, died Saturday morning [Jan. 19, 1924] at the family home, 354 State street, West Lafayette. He was eighty-five years old and death was due to infirmities of age. He had been ill only a short time.

Mr. Pierce was born Nov. 27, 1838, on a farm near Hebron, on which he made his home until four years ago, when the family moved to West Lafayette. He was married to Martha A. Andrew on April 22, 1862. He held memberships in the Mt. Zion M.E. church, Octagon lodge No. 511, F. and A.M. and Klondike tribe No. 316, I.O.R.M. He was a charter member of the Klondike tribe.

Surviving are the widow; two sons, Frank A. Pierce of Route B, and Ralph W. Pierce of Otterbein; and two daughters, Miss Jessie A. Pierce of West Lafayette and Mrs. Mary Pierce Wright of Burnettsville.

Funeral services will be held at the family home, Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, with internment in the Hebron cemetery.
