DELHI - Funeral services for Mr. J. O. Mooney, 84, of Delhi, Louisiana, were held at 2 p.m. on March 23, 2000, at the First Baptist Church in Delhi with the Revs. Marcus Murphy and Everett Geis officiating. Burial followed in the Faith Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes of Delhi.

Mr. Mooney died March 21, 2000, at the Richland Parish Hospital in Delhi. He was born November 13, 1915 in Clarksville, Louisiana [sic Crystal Springs, MS] to Willie Syrus Mooney and Lena Kelly Mooney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a son, Arthur A. Mooney.

Survivors include his wife, Rita A. Mooney of Delhi, LA; two sons - Everett Mooney of Anahuac, TX and Max Mooney of Delhi, LA; a daughter, Dorothy Gilliand of Lyons, TX; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a brother and four sisters.

Serving as pallbearers were Loyd Miers, John Howard, Amos Strain, Bubba Perry, Thomas Callaway and Jim Free. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the board of deacons at Delhi's First Baptist Church.
