George Washington Scramlin, Son of Leonard Scramlin and Rosetta Arnold, was born near Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, USA. He came with his wife and cousin, Odessa Scramblin Scramlin and bought 40 acres of land in 1885. Later increased his holdings to123 acres and started a general merchandise store. George was appointed Postmaster during August of President McKinley's first administration. George and Ora had 2 children: Russell C. and Ora C. Scramlin. Odessa died in1891 and Daughter Ora was sent to lived with her maternal grandparents. However, Ora died by her 13th year. Russell had a full life with 2 marriages, and died in 1974. George married in 1894 to Laura Bell Hepler and together had Marshall Edward Scamlin. However before 1910, they had parted ways. Laura remarried that year to Harry Fawcett.
