Darlington Record July 24, 1902:

Jackson Bowman died at his home in Gentryville June 28,1902 aged 83 years. Father Bowman came from Indiana some forty years ago and settled near old Fairview for a short time ,after which he removed a short distance west,where he remained until two years ago,then moving to Gentryville.
Father Bowman has been in failing health for some time,but was only confined to his bed for a few weeks prior to his death. He was a kind father and a loving husband.He was the father of seventeen children, leaving eight of them and a loving wife to mourn his death. He has lived a faithful Christain life for over sixty years.
Father Bowman was kind to his neighbors and gave a good word of advice to everyone.His beloved family has the sympathy of the entire community.Dear children follow the word and steps of this loving father and you will be sure of that happy home beyond the skies.
