Roger Albertson, a popular senior at Lafayette High School with a wide circle of friends, was killed when a custom-made car under which he was working fell on him when a jack slipped. He was pinned under the gasoline tank and physicians said he died instantly from suffocation and a crushed chest. The accident occurred in a vacant lot south of Hi Hat Cleaners operated by his parents at 5:00 p.m. He was discovered by his father who immediately sought jacks to lift the car and medical assistance.
