Elizabeth Wittnauer was born Jan 11, 1855 in Germany to John Wittauer and Katherine Schwank.
Liz came to the States at age 17 in about 1872. She got married at age 20 in the Lutheran Church in Jan 1875 in Springfield, IL to Theodore Blatter 1849-1920 but then moved to Maryville, MO.
Liz had a sister who became a Catholic nun at Sacred Heart Convent in Yankton, SD with the name as Sr. Rose Wittnauer. She had 2 brothers still living in Germany. A younger brother, John, and wife, Liz, and 2 children lived with the Blatters and John was also a meat cutter as was Theodore Blatter with his own Blatter Meat Market in Maryville.
