In the death of Capt. T.T. Persons, our city has lost one of its most substantial and respected citizens. He had been in feeble health a long time. He spent the summer in Kentucky, but was recently brought to Winona, where he died on Friday last. His funeral took place from the Baptist church on Saturday morning, and although the day was inclement, there was a large attendance of his friends. The pastor, Mr. Sproles, made an appropriate address, and Rev. Dr. Hunter, who had intimately known the deceased for many years, paid a feeling tribute to his many good qualities as a citizen and friend. He was a member of several of the benevolent insurance societies, and in this way made provision for his family when he should be called hence.
The Clarion, Jackson, MS, November 10, 1886.
