Doris M. Mathes
(August 7, 1930 - April 23, 2008)

Doris M. Mathes daughter of the late Doshia Bell Barton and Robert A. Barton, was born at Houston, Missouri, on August 7, 1930. She departed this life at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kirkwood, on April 23, 2008, having attained the age of 77 years, eight months and 16 days.

On January 9, 1948, in Oates, Missouri, Doris was united in marriage to Carlton Mathes to this loving union one son was born.

Doris was a member of Locust Grove United Baptist Church for 68 years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #273 in Lesterville. Doris enjoyed cooking, watching TV, working crossword puzzles, shopping at Wal-Mart and the Dollar Store. She also enjoyed taking care of Carlton's dogs and going to dog shows. Doris loved spending time with her family especially taking care of her husband Carlton.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Leo Dwayne Mathes.

Doris is survived by her husband Carlton of Oates, two sisters, Imogene Johnson and husband Verble of Salem, Loretta Reese and husband Gene of Oates, and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends who will mourn her passing.

Funeral services were held at the United Baptist Tabernacle
