- He was born December 10, 1954, at Meade KS, the son of Edward and Josephine (Gertner) Amerin. As a young boy he attended the Plains school system, graduating from Southwestern Heights H.S. in 1973. After his graduation, he began his career as a farmer.
- He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Plains. He enjoyed his cats, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.
- On November 22, 2003, he married Mary Meier at Liberal KS. She survives.
- Other survivors include: His mother, Josephine Amerin of Plains; four brothers, Larry Amerin and wife Leigh Ann, Ray Amerin and wife Jennifer, Gerald Amerin, Robert Amerin and wife Caralee--all of Plains; four sisters, Mary Rhoads of Edmond OK, JoAnn Wells and husband Larry of Fowler KS, Dolores Amerin of Plains, Margaret Rentenia and husband Jesse of Clovis NM; 30 nieces and nephews, 15 great-nieces and nephews.
- He is preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Paul Amerin in 1955 and Leonard Amerin on June 13, 1977; and a sister, Mary Joan Amerin on September 18, 1962.
- Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Plains. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Liberal KS. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery, Plains. The family would welcome memorials to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
