- He was born December 10, 1954, at Meade KS, the son of Edward and Josephine (Gertner) Amerin. As a young boy he attended the Plains school system, graduating from Southwestern Heights H.S. in 1973. After his graduation, he began his career as a farmer.
- He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Plains. He enjoyed his cats, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.
- On November 22, 2003, he married Mary Meier at Liberal KS. She survives.
- Other survivors include: His mother, Josephine Amerin of Plains; four brothers, Larry Amerin and wife Leigh Ann, Ray Amerin and wife Jennifer, Gerald Amerin, Robert Amerin and wife Caralee--all of Plains; four sisters, Mary Rhoads of Edmond OK, JoAnn Wells and husband Larry of Fowler KS, Dolores Amerin of Plains, Margaret Rentenia and husband Jesse of Clovis NM; 30 nieces and nephews, 15 great-nieces and nephews.
- He is preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Paul Amerin in 1955 and Leonard Amerin on June 13, 1977; and a sister, Mary Joan Amerin on September 18, 1962.

Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Liberal KS. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery, Plains. The family would welcome memorials to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
