Henry Earl Taylor was born December 27, 1943 at the home of his grandparents (Walter and Martha Vaughn) in Atterberry, Illinois the son of Ernest Earl "Red" and Bertha Lucille "Beth" Vaughn Taylor. He married Melba Jean Briscoe in Springfield, Illinois, September 1966. He later remarried.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, and a brother-in-law Reinhold Leiker.

Henry was a retired carpenter. He enjoyed socializing with people, entertaining children, being outdoors with the birds and animals, as well as doing carpentry and yard work. He was well loved by those who knew him and he always thought of the welfare of others before himself.

Memorial services for Henry were conducted May 31, 2013 on the banks of the Tennessee River, Lake Guntersville, Alabama by Chaplain Robin Peavy. In attendance were family, friends, and colleagues. Mrs. Aji Joseph, Mrs. Robin Hunter, and Mr. Sterling Hunter, all of Fredericksburg, Virginia, gave eulogies regarding their life experiences, friendships, and their love for Henry. Family and friends scattered red rose petals into the river while Joyce sprinkled white rose petals prior to Chaplain Peavy interring Henry's water urn, containing his cremains, into the river. More rose petals were scattered following the interment. Henry now rests with his Lord and savior. A celebration of life luncheon followed at Grandmother's House in New Hope, AL. Family and friends enjoyed the fabulous home cooked food while reminiscing about how Henry had enriched our lives.

Inscription

Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be one together with Christ. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
