George R. McKibbin, 84, residing at the Community Care Center in Stuart, passed away on July 1, 2007 at the Adair County Hospital in Greenfield.

George Robert McKibbin was born on Feb. 22, 1923 to Frank and Laura (Chrisman) McKibbin in Brayton, Iowa. George attended high school at Exira, Iowa and was a veteran of World War II.

On February 14, 1944 George married Dorothy Evelyn Musgrove at the Lutheran Church in Audubon. They were blessed with three children. They settled in Brayton, Iowa where they lived for the next seven years. In l95l they moved north of Menlo, Iowa where they farmed, raising crops and milking cows. When George wasn't busy on the farm he was a very accomplished carpenter. George and Dorothy remained in the Menlo area until they moved to Greenfield in 2003. They were married for sixty-one years.

George enjoyed farming and visiting with their many friends and taking family vacations when they could. George and Dorothy spent many winters together in southern Texas. He will be greatly missed.

George is survived by two sons, Ken (Ann) McKibbin of Desoto and Eugene (Janice) McKibbin of Stuart; his daughter-in-law Chris McKibbin of Stuart; a sister, Frances Davis of Audubon; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and other relatives.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Dorothy, and a son Roger McKibbin.
