WEBSTER — Mrs. Carmen G. Garcia passed from this life Monday afternoon, February 16, 2009, at her home.

Born May 12, 1922, in Calvin, Texas, Mrs. Garcia had been a resident of Webster for 2 1/2 years, previously of Santa Fe. She was a nurse and worked with handicapped children at UTMB for twenty-eight years until her retirement in 1962 and became a senior adult caregiver until 1985. Mrs. Garcia was a member of Saint Bernadette Catholic Church and was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother who will be remembered for the loving care she gave to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Garcia; parents, Emeterio and Francisca (Romo) Garcia; four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Virginia Garcia of Galveston, Mary Jane and David Wasson of Houston, Beatrice and Travis Glover of Wells, Teresa and Mike Villanueva of Santa Fe; brother Emeterio Garcia, Jr.; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009, at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, 15500 El Camino Real, with the Rev. Matthew Thottiyil, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be Trae Glover, Travis Glover, John Pena, Andrew Rodriguez, Mike Villanueva and David Wasson.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, (409) 925-3501. A vigil service will begin at 7p.m.

The family would like to thank Mary Dankers for the care and support given to Mrs. Garcia.
