A son of John and Eliza Jane (Hinish) Weight. He was twice married. He was united in marriage with Flora M. Moore on April 8, 1914. She died April 18, 1950. He was united in marriage with Minnie (Ford) Whitfield on May 14, 1952, at Eichelbergertown, PA.

He was survived by his wife, three daughters, Thelma Carbaugh of Saxton; Phyllis Nobotny of Nesquehoning, PA; and Freda Mattison of Baltimore, MD; a step-daughter, Verna Edmonson of Tampa, FL; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, also, one brother, Willard Weight of Hopewell and three sisters, Lillian Hawley of Defiance; Pearl Ritchey of Ohio; and Edith Runk of Three Springs. Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Methodist Church in Eichelbergertown, a member of the United Mineworkers of America and a member of the Oddfellows Lodge in Saxton. He was a retired coalminer.

Masood Funeral Home, Saxton, was in charge of arrangements. Interment was made in Hopewell Cemetery.
