Will Lewis French was one of the pioneers of Tina. He operated the first garage in Tina. He was born in Norborne, Mo. on January 9, 1881 to John Peter and Sarah Jane (Collier) French. He married Maude Martin on December 31, 1900. She was a daughter of John and Miranda (Blackburn) Martinez, born on April 2, 1882 near Norborne, Mo. They had four children: Mabel (Mrs. Edward Baird); Josephine (Henderson), Kansas City, Kansas; Merriel (Telitt), Gladstone, Mo.; and Will, Jr., Portland, Oregon (Deceased).

They lived in the area of Norborne, Wakenda and Carrollton, Mo. until August, 1914 when they moved to Tina to open the first garage. There were only three car owners in Tina at this time, Frank Yhele, J.J. Edmonds and Mr. Houston (do not have his first name). Will operated the garage for about five years, then moved to Carrollton, Mo., where he also operated a garage, then later moved to Kansas City, Kansas.

Will passed away August 18, 1954 and Maude died two years later on June 10, 1956.
