S. L. Crunk Services Conducted In Nixon Burial In Gonzales

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the First Methodist Church of Nixon for Shaddle Lamar Crunk, prominent resident of the Schoolland community who died at his home Saturday morning at about 8 o'clock.
The Rev. Lester H. Raines of Austin, former pastor of Nixon, officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Roy H. May, pastor of the First Methodist church. Burial took place in the Gonzales Masonic cemetery.
Mr. Crunk was born October 12, 1884, in Martindale, and was Marion December 9, 1907 to Miss Ida Mae Harper. Mr. and Mrs. Crunk moved to the Schoolland community in 1916 where he engaged in farming until his retirement a few years ago.
He was a member of the Christian church all his life.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. W. W. (Dorothy) Ellison, Mrs. Walter (Aline, Bryant) Gonzales; and Mrs. George (Marjorie) Baros of Westhoff; one son, Dr. Lamar Crunk, Houston and nine grandchildren.
Also surviving him are two brothers, Zbranek. B. Crunk and M. M. Crunk, both of S Holland; and two sisters, Mrs. o. C. Smith of San Marcos and Mrs. J. W. Petty of Victoria.

Shadle Lamar Crunk, Sr. passed away at 7:30 AM on August 06, 1960 in Nixon, Gonzales County, Texas at the age of 75. He suffered from acute – severe Myocardial Infarction & Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease. The funeral was August 07, 1960 under the direction of Menneng Funeral Home with burial at the Masonic Cemetery in Gonzales, Gonzales County. He was born October 12, 1884 to R. J. Crunk & Florinda Ann Owens Crunk. He married Ida Mae Harper. He & his wife had been residents of Nixon since 1916. He farmed land 6 miles northeast of Nixon just outside the city limits.
