Thelma Agnes Buckner COLUMBIA- Thelma Agnes Buckner, 85, of Columbia, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Born January 3, 1929 ( Birthdate is wrong.she born in 1924.) in Darlington, SC, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Sarah Agnes “Sadie” Haley Buckner.Former wife of Alton Kannday "Pete" Amick.Tabbie never had any children.Her nephews and Nieces was her children.Thelma was the Clan mother of this family. Thelma moved to Columbia in 1953. She worked for AM International for 25 years before joining Macy's Department Store at the Richland Mall, where she was employed for 23 years before retiring in 2006.. Ms Buckner loved gardening and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church. Survivors include her niece, Mary Ann "Suzie" Buckner of Columbia; nephews, John lester Buckner jr of West Columbia, SC, James Buckner, Ralph Buckner, John Samuel "Sammy" Buckner all of Columbia, Charles (Karla Kouchka) Buckner of GA, Clint (Marlaina Hunt) Buckner of Lexington, SC, and Leonard (Sherry Treadway) Buckner of NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Charles, and Walter,Lee, Clifford Buckner; and two sister, Blanch and ,Juanita Buckner. A memorial service for Thelma Buckner will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, November 13th, at Belmont Baptist Church, with The Rev. Brenda Kneece officiating.
