The son of Peter & Elizabeth Guyer, in 1860 he was a wagoner living in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 5" tall and had red hair and brown eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted at the stated age of twenty-three in Chambersburg August 9, 1862, mustered into federal service that day at Harrisburg as a private with Co. H, 126th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 20, 1863. He is in the company register as "Guier."

According to the Shippensburg in Civil War booklet, David Guyer has no tombstone, but as you can see, he has a metal marker. He did not apply for a military pension, and he left little trail in the censuses as well.
