A married man, age 76 years, 10 months, 20 days. Son of Edward and Catherine (Chamberlain) Babbitt.

Served as a private in Co. K, 4th Massachusetts Heavy Artillery.

From the "Worcester Daily Spy," 16 Aug 1890:
The Five Brothers Survive
Quiet but Remarkable Reunion of War Veterans in this City.
Samuel Flint Babbitt of Post 10, apropos of the Boston celebration this week, held a reunion of veterans at his house on John street, Thursday.
His four brothers all veterans, joined him in a comrades' and family reunion dinner.
The party included S. F. Babbitt of Worcester, 4th Massachusetts heaavy artillery;
Charles Babbitt, Columbus, O., 31st Ohiio volunteers;
Edward Babbitt, Columbus, O., 3rd Ohio volunteers;
A. Perry Babbitt, Columbus, O., U. S. N.;
Henry S. Babbitt, Boston, 31st Ohio volunteers.
It is a remarkable fact that five brothers of one family should enlist, serve their term of enlistment, and all be living 25 years after the war.
They all attended the Boston parade and encampment.
