Royce Ira "Bud" Gates, 63, of Nesbit, died Wednesday, August 11 at The Regional Medical Center in Memphis. Mr. Gates was president of the Nesbit Water Association since 1988, owner of R.I. Enterprises in Nesbit, and was retired from the United States Air Force.

He was also a loving husband and father, and was a member of the Southwest Winds Riding Club. Services were Saturday, August 14 at Hernando Funeral Home with interment in Nesbit Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Gates; two step-sons, Paul Henley of Strayhorn and Mark Henley of Nesbit; three daughters, Pamela L. Richardson of Hernando, Angela M. DeLeon of Greenville, Texas, and Tamela D. Gates of Picayune, Miss.; two brothers, J.L. Gates of Prarieville, La., and Van Gates of Hernando; two sisters, Coleen Engel of Hernando and Carol Gates of Longmont, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
