CHARLES HENRY CARLSON was born Aug. 28, 1864 in Tolanga, Sjöbo kommun, Skåne län, Sweden. d. Dec. 6, 1936 Bonita, San Diego County, CA and emigrated on April 14, 1868 , when he was 3 1/2 years old with his parents, Peter ( Per) Carlson and Elna Jonsdotter Carlson along with his siblings.
His family (Peter Carlson family) first settled in Big Stone County, Ortonville, MN
Charles went to school . . He played the violin. In 1891 at age 23 Charles assumed the proprietorship of the Chas. H. Carlson Elite Art Gallery on 228 Northwest Second St., Ortonville, MN from 1890 to 1894 and He was a well-known photographer as well.* The family was Swedish Baptist and belonged to the Swedish Baptist Church of Big Stone Township organized in July of 1892.

He eventually became an General Evangelist with the Swedish Baptist church and traveled throughout the west preaching in Troy, Idaho, establishing a church in Bellingham, Washington where he was pastor, and another church San Diego County, CA area. He was the pastor of his own Swedish Baptist church in California, where he retired and died.

He married JOSEPHINE M ENGQUIST who lived to be 28 years old. To this union was born 4 children:

1. Rudolph ⁷ Carlson 1895-1897

2. Olga ⁷ Elenora Carlson 1897-1990 married. ( Div.) 4 children

3. Reuben ⁷ W. Carlson 1899-

4 . Violet ⁷ Carlson 2 yrs old 1904-1906 Enterprise Cemetery Ferndale, Whatcom County, Washington, USA. A child with a sweet disposition.
Charles' first wife, Josephine, died in 1905 when Violet was yet an infant.

Widower Charles Henry Carlson then married in 1906 to ANNA LENA NELSON b. June 6, 1866 d. Jan. 2, 1956 dau. of Rev. Sven Christian Nelson and Anna Lena Andersdotter Nelson Swedish immigrants from Frillesås Halland County, Sweden who settled in Cannon Falls, Goodhue Co., MN. Both are buried at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Bonita San Diego County, CA.

To the union of Charles Henry Carlson and Anna Lena Nelson was born:

1. Viola ⁷ Evangeline Carlson b. 1908 - 2000- m. Nov, 27m 1921 San Diego County, CA to Rudolph "Rudy" Elvin Peterson buried Fern Hill Cemetery, Anacortes, Skagit Co. WA .
