Carolyn D. Rickaby, 73, of Menominee, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, surrounded by her family, following a short battle with cancer. She was born on March 1, 1940, to the late Walter and Mary (Hirsch) Ebner in Milwaukee. Carolyn attended Our Lady of Lourdes School. On April 26, 1958, Carolyn married Robert J. Rickaby at St. Williams Church in Menominee; he preceded her in death on June 3, 2012. Carolyn loved her family; she took time to listen and be there for them. She enjoyed bargain shopping, gardening, and watching wildlife in her backyard sanctuary. Carolyn was a Relevant Radio and Right to Life supporter. She was a member of Holy Spirit Church and belonged to the Legion of Mary and RCIA. Carolyn is survived by two sons: David (Jennifer) Rickaby of Marinette and Daniel, Sr. (Sharon) Rickaby of Menominee; three daughters: Cathie Demerath of Sun Prairie, Chris (Drew) Hoegger and Kelly Rickaby, both of Green Bay; sisters: Marlene Sulk of Marinette, Dorothy Sulk of Peshtigo and Cecelia (Tom) Tomas of Orleans, Neb.; one brother, Allen (Donna) Ebner of Long Prairie, Minn.; sister-in-law, Carol Rickaby of Marinette; grandchildren: Katie (Merle) Alix, Robert, Braeden, Benjamin and Lucy Rickaby, Karen (Todd) Maki, Dan Jr. and Ryan Rickaby, Erich Demerath, Erin and Corrine Wheelock, Kristopher and Kassandra Rickaby; step-grandchildren: Jeremy (Sonja) and Anthony (Katie) Boland, Bobby, Nada and Tyler (Bash) Hoegger; and great-grandchildren: Emma and John Maki. Visitation will take place at Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home on Sunday, July 21st from 6 to 8 p.m. The Vigil Prayer service will begin at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Carolyn on Monday July 22nd at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Parish with Rev. Michael Chenier presiding. Burial will be in Birch Creek Cemetery. The family would like to thank Marquette General Hospice, Cheri Walker Rickaby, and Miriam Kamin for all the loving care given to Carolyn. "The end is just the beginning."
