Over 1,000 Confederate (and some Union) soldiers are buried here who were at the Charlottesville General Hospital.

J. Abernathy listed to left. The gave photo taken by Tracie Shrader Smith is not located in the UVA Confederate Cemetery. It appears that he died of while in the UVA Hospital buried in a mass grave here and the family erected a marker elsewhere.
