Charles Albert Thompson, son of Elizabeth (Holmes) and Henry Thompson, married Cynthia Ellen Bishop, daughter of Mary (Poff) and Daniel Bishop, December 22, 1872 in Cass County, Michigan.

The following death record pertains to a child of Cynthia Ellen (Bishop) and Charles Albert Thompson. There is no stone marking this grave, but certainly Mary E. Thompson must be buried with her parents:
From "Some Deaths 1867-1939 Cass County, Michigan", compiled by Nancy Corwin:
Thompson, Mary E., died February 8, 1875, 2m., 16 dy., parents are Charles A. and Ellen Thompson (Ellen is Cynthia Ellen (Bishop) Thompson). Additional children of Charles and Cynthia Ellen (Bishop) Thompson are Verna T. (Thompson) Allen and Edna A. Thompson.

The mother of Charles Thompson, Elizabeth (Holmes)Thompson, came with her mother and step-father, Sarah T. (Miller) and John Worst, in the spring of 1835 with other members of the "Miller Settlement". We know nothing of Elizabeth's father, surname of Holmes, but we can speculate that he must have died while the Millers lived in Monroe Co., NY. We would not know Elizabeth Holmes' maiden name if it were not for a Cass Co., MI, Probate File for Elizabeth's aunt and uncle, Elizabeth B.(Hanford) and John J. Miller. who both died in 1874 in Mason township within three days of each other. John and Elizabeth had no children, so to dispose of their extensive estate, the Probate Court required a complete listing of John J Miller's legal heirs. It is from this listing that we know Sarah (Miller) Worst's oldest child was Elizabeth (Holmes), who married Henry Thompson February 13, 1848, in Mason township., Cass Co., MI (Cass Co. Marriage Records, Liber B2, p. 67). Henry Thompson, born in Vermont, was an important member of the early Mason township community, being involved in everything from the development of the school system and the cemetery (Five Points Cemetery), to serving as a Justice of the Peace, a Township Supervisor, as well as holding many other township positions. Besides Charles, Elizabeth (Holmes) and Henry Thompson had six other children: Harriet (married William H. Everett), Lewis Cass (married Martha Jane Bement), Cyreno S. (1852-1870), William H. (Mar.4, 1854-April 2, 1854), Frank H. (Jan. 22, 1856-Aug. 22, 1856), and Mary Alice (married May A.Olds).
