Chester L. "Chet" Bukowski, age 91, of Erie, passed away Monday, July 15th, 2013, at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born November 3, 1921, in Erie, the son of the late Raymond and Helen Falkowski Bukowski.
Chester served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He first worked for the City of Erie as the Assessor and then when the City and County merged the assessment offices he became the Director of the Assessment Bureau for the County of Erie retiring in 1981 after 34 years of service. He was a Real Estate Broker, served on the Board of Directors at the former St. John Kanty Prep and served as President of the State Assessors Association. He was a member of St. Luke Church, American Legion post, Siebenbuerger Club and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, Ray, Ed, Leo and Dick Bukowski.
Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Virginia (Lasky) Bukowski of Erie; two daughters, Nancy Werner and Karen Bukowski both of Erie; two grandchildren, Kathleen McLeod husband, Michael and Scott Werner; two great grandchildren, Reiley and Mackenzie McLeod. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
