In Memory of
Myrtle Little Herring
April 23, 1926 - May 10, 2012
Obituary

Myrtle Grant Little Herring was born on April 23, 1926 in the Blue Community of Lee County, Texas and was placed in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on the 10th of May at the Christopher House in Austin, Texas, at the age of 86.

Myrtle worked for Austin Baptists from 1951 until 1990. She worked for the Austin Baptist Association for a few years, but spent the most time as secretary to the Highland Lakes Baptist Encampment. In 1967 she and her husband, Art, moved from Austin to the Encampment, where she continued as secretary. They retired from that ministry in 1990. In retirement, Myrtle continued to serve people in volunteer work for the Therapy Pet Pals, and the Breckenridge Hospital Sewing Room. Later, with her second husband, Bill Herring, she volunteered for the Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Art Little, her parents and brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters Coralea Roquemore and husband, Jimmy Roquemore of Spicewood, and Arthleen Spalding and her husband, Bob of Spicewood. Her four grandchildren, John Roquemore and wife Candy, Eleane Conwell and husband David, Rachel Schmidt and husband, Chris, and Ian Spalding and wife, Sandra brought great joy to her life. That joy was expanded by her 10 great-grandchildren, Adam and Josh Roquemore, Todd, Chad, Catie, Sarah, David and newborn baby boy Conwell, and Morgan and Kate Schmidt. She is also survived by her current husband of 10 years, Bill Herring of Round Rock, Texas and his family.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening, on Monday, the 14th of May 2012, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 15th of May 2012, at Northwest Baptist Church, 6301 Woodrow Avenue, Austin, Texas. Internment will be at the Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers and customary remembrances, the family suggests memorials be made to Highland Lakes Camp & Conference Center, 5902 Pace Bend Road North, Spicewood, Texas 78669, or Therapy Pet Pals, 3930 Bee Caves Rd, West Lake Hills, TX 78746 or Austin Christopher House, 2820 E Martin Luther King Boulevard, Austin, TX 78702.
