Lucille married William Dale Bice, a native of McDonough County, IL, and they had one child, William Stanley. William, a farmer, died in Dec 1932 at the age of 38. Lucille never remarried.

For much of her career she taught at Riverview, the two-story red brick elementary school on S Eleventh Street in Havana. Because of her longevity at Riverview, she taught the children of two generations of the neighborhood's residents.
