Robert Arthur Hickethier passed away peacefully on July 12, 2013, surrounded by his family in Encinitas, California. Born in Oakland, son of the late Edgar J. and Mildred Peters Hickethier. After attending St. Columba's Grammar School, Bob graduated from St. Mary's College High School in 1952 and went on to San Jose State.
As a member of the U.S. Marine Corp, he earned a Master's Degree from the University of Southern California between tours of duty. Robert served in the Marine Corp for 20 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star Medal with a Combat "V".
Later he began a long career in the metal building business and retired in 2009.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Suda; daughters Sally, Susan, Sherry and Stephanie; step daughters Christina Sahhar and Suda Maria Miller; half brothers Richard and Tom; and numerous grandchildren.
Services to Celebrate Bob's life will be Friday, July 19, 2013 at Holy Angels Sorensen Chapel, 1140 B Street, Hayward, CA, 94541. Viewing at 10:00 a.m.; Services at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery 4529 Howe St. in Oakland , CA 94611.
