Bernice Reva Hanavan, 69, of Bosworth, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2005 at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Missouri, after a short illness. Bernice was born October 18, 1935 in Mandeville, Missouri, the daughter of Lester and Amy Brownley Cochenour.

She attended Star Country School and graduated from Tina High School.

Bernice was married to Jack E. Hanavan on December 23, 1952 in Mendon, Missouri by Reverend Whiteside; a marriage which lasted 52 wonderful years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, did farm chores, and was an Avon Representative for thirty-nine years. She was a member of the Bosworth Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Jack, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law; Jerry Hanavan and his wife, Trish, Bosworth, Missouri and Terry Hanavan and his wife Cindy, Chillicothe, Missouri; two granddaughters, Amy Hanavan, Warrensburg, Missouri and Megan Hanavan, Springfield, Missouri; two grandsons, Cody Hanavan, St. Joseph, Missouri and Cory Hanavan, Chillicothe, Missouri; one sister and brother-in-law, Deloris O'Neal and her husband, Jerry, Sedalia, Missouri; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale Cochenour and his wife, Valo, Hale, Missouri and Jim Cochenour and his wife, Debbie, Kidder, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Kenneth Cochenour, and one son, Stephen, in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, March 22, 2005 at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. Burial will be in the Wharton Cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri. The family suggests contributions to the Wharton Cemetery or the Bosworth Christian Church in memory of Bernice.
