Rites Thursday for oil operator

Funeral services for independent oil operator Charles LeRoy Mabry of Dallas will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Highway. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Mausoleum.

Mabry, 77, died Monday at his North Dallas residence.

Born in Minden, Rusk County, Mabry moved to Dallas in 1924 and attended Southern Methodist University.

Mabry was an independent oil operator and securities and real estate broker from the early 1940s until his death. During his business career, Mabry owned Mabry's Painting and Decorating Co. in Dallas, The Mahogany Co. iin Costa Rica, Central America, the Union bus Line in San Antonio and the Cytase Cattle Feed Co. and the Abstract Plant, both in Midland.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jaynne; two sons bill roy Mabry of The Colony, Denton County, and Charles LeRoy Mabry II of Denver; two daughters, Yolanda Mabry of University Park and Dorinda Nolan of Grapevine; four sisters, Birdie Hudman, Irene Poole, Sibyl Stanley, all of Dallas, and Myrtle Smith of El Paso; three brothers, James Forrest Mabry of Arlington, Cecil Napoleon Mabry of Grand Saline, Van Zandt County, and William Bedford Mabry of McAllen, Hidalgo County, and six grandchildren.
