Services for Georgia A. Martin, 85, of Tyler, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with the Rev. James McMillan officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery.
Georgia passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, peacefully at The Hospice of East Texas HomePlace. She was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Freestone County to the late Virgie and Adrian Alewine. Georgia was married for 60 years to the love of her life, Troy Martin, who preceded her in death on July 29, 2012. Troy was a bus driver and Georgia worked at the drug store in Mexia when they met. After marrying, Georgia was a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Sally, Hopie and Lea; a brother, James; a son and a daughter-in-law, Chester and Bobbie Martin; a grandson, Paul Louis Martin; a great-grandson, Seth Richardson; a great-nephew, Army SPC Jeffrey P. Shaffer; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her loving family: children, Jimmy and Julie Martin, of Troup, Sandy and Tony Sanders, of Tyler, Vickie and Terry McNeely, of Groesbeck, Kenny and Crystal Martin, of Mineola and Patti Martin and Glenn Bankhead, of Tyler; a brother, Cecil Alewine, of Waco; 36 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews; and countless other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mark Adams, Brad Compton, Ronnie Weise, Dennis Cain, Darrell Farrell, Dennis Farrell, Bruce Messer and Randy Hale, and the honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at the funeral home.
