Mr. Christie Allen "Al" Christiansen, 87, of Virginia Beach, VA, died June 29, 2013 at the Lake Taylor Transitional Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Al was born May 22, 1926 in New York, NY, a son of the late Lt.Cdr. (US Coast Guard) Christie Thomas Christiansen and Ellen Olda Danielson Christiansen. He was a member of Emanual Lutheran Church and had previously lived in both New Orleans, LA and Savannah, GA.

He is survived by his brother, Thomas Edward Christiansen and wife Joann; sisters, Rachael C. Cartwright, Alma C. O'Shields, and Ellen C. Taylor and husband Robert. Also surviving are nephews, Andrew Cartwright, Carson Cartwright, Chris and Phillip Christiansen, Jiggs O'Shields, Billy Taylor, Robert T. Taylor, Jr., and nieces, Melinda Davis and Laura Taylor; and his best friend, Vernon Piland.

Funeral services were held July 2, 2013 at the Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veteran Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia
