William and Harriett Blanton donated the land that most Greenville Mississippi is located on in an effort to help rebuild the town after the civil war. As the yellow fever took many residents of the town a cemetery was named for her and is where the dead were buried. Today those remains have been moved to other locations in town and the area is a park. Few markers are still there. Harriett is among other "Blanton" markers that span several generations.
