Resided in Franklin County NC where he enlisted at age 23. June 17, 1861 mustered in as Sergeant. Present or accounted for until wounded in the abdomen at or near Fort Stedman, VA. on or about Mar 25, 1865. Hospitalized at Petersburg, VA. Captured in the hospital on April 3, 1865. Died in hospital on April 13, 1865 of wounds. Buried at Fairgrounds Hospital Cemetery .
Brother Wilie P Baker also died in the same hospital and is buried here.
