Emery F. Curtice, 72, Yankton, died Friday in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton. Mr. Curtice was born Jan. 20, 1913, in Clark. He was graduated from Clark High School and a business college in Watertown. In 1932 he worked for the Gamble Store in Watertown, transferring to several locations including Yankton in 1936, Sioux Falls in 1938, and Washington, Mo., in 1940. He married Marjorie Gemmill June 17, 1940, in Mayfield. In 1943, he enlisted in the Navy and served in World War II on a troop transport ship. For a short time after the war, he worked for the Gamble Store in Jefferson, Iowa. In 1946 he moved to Yankton and worked for Duke Tufty Dodge. He was later employed by Montgomery Ward until retiring in 1978. Mr. Curtice was a member of the VFW, Elks and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Services will begin at II a.m. today in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by VFW Post No. 791.
