Suit For Damages Against The Village of Greenfield
Evaline Brice of Greenfield has brought suit for damages against that village and asks $1,000 compensation. She states in her petition that workmen in the employ of the village were engaged in putting in a sewerage system on January 31, 1901, and in doing so dynamite or some other similar esplosive was being used to blast the stone; that the workmen negligently left a stick of dynamite near a fire, causing the explosion of a lot more dynamite, badly injuring her residence which was near.
She says that the house was shaken and injured and the veranda and weather-boarding greatly damaged, the woodwork was split and defaced, the paint soiled, and doors and windows crushed in.
That the house was untenantable for four months and that the shock was so great to her vervous system that she had to have the attendance of a physician and that she has not yet fully
recovered.
She specifies certain damages to the property and asks that the village pay her $1000 for her personal injuried and the damage to the property.
