Mrs. Gretchen "Debbie" Boggs Watson, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on June 19, 2013. She was 60.
Mrs. Watson was born on March 30, 1953 in Bowdon, Georgia to the late Hugh Boggs and Helen Robinson Boggs Liles. She grew up attending Bowdon Baptist Church and was a member of Bowdon High School's Class of 1971. She attended the University of Georgia and retired from AT&T where she worked as a circuit designer. She served as President of the Glen View Neighborhood Homeowners Association in Atlanta. After her retirement, she and her husband, Jim, began restoring a home in Bowdon which she enjoyed greatly. She also was a lover of animals and enjoyed her pets immensely.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Collier Watson; and her grandparents, Jessie "Pot" and Berneice Robinson and Will and Ora Boggs.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Blackmon; her son, Evan Watson; her mother, Helen Robinson Liles; and her brother, Michael Boggs. She is also survived by many cousins and friends whom she deeply loved.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton, Georgia. Classmates from the BHS Class of 1971 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 21st from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, June 22nd from noon until the funeral hour.
