Bertha Walker Erwin Adkisson, 99, former longtime resident of the McCains Community, died Thursday, November, 10, 2011 at NHC Columbia.

Born near Temple, Texas and reared in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Henry Walker and Mattie Leoma Nance Walker.

On February 11, 1943, she married Paul Erwin who preceded her in death on March 8, 1994. On February 1, 1995 she married William "Bill" Adkisson who also preceded her in death on August 25, 2000.

She was employed by Dr. D.E. Overton as receptionist for more than 30 years. She was a longtime member of Bigbyville United Methodist Church and Bigbyville United Methodist Women's Club. She was also a member of Mynders Family and Community Education Club and a former officer of the Maury County Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Walker Erwin; five sisters, Bobby Jean Walker, Helen Overstreet, Mildred Wagoner, Elizabeth Clark, and Evelyn Church; and three brothers, Paul Walker, James P. Walker and William E. Walker.
