Richard Howard LeDosquet, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died July 9, 2013. He was born to Joseph and Jenny LeDosquet in Williston, ND, April 20, 1923. During WWII, he served in the Army in New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan.
He grew up loving the outdoors and determined to be a forester. As a result he graduated from Utah State with a degree in Forest Management. While in Logan he joined the LDS Church and married Sarah Margaret Quinney on August 22, 1949. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple.
He taught school and was a principal in Boise. He eventually was able to pursue his chosen career to be a forester working for the BLM which took his family to Burley and Boise ID, Sparks and Ely NV and Juneau and Fairbanks, AK. He served faithfully in many callings in LDS church including: bishop, District President (Fairbanks, AK) and patriarch. Scouting was dear to his heart, and he helped boys advance in scouting as long as he was able.
Richard and Sarah served as missionaries in Tampa, Key West and Fort Lauderdale, FL and as temple workers in the Boise and Ogden temples. Sarah died in March, 2004.
Richard married Faye Haddon Nov. 4, 2004. He is survived by Faye; his four children: Linda Ford (Blaine), Layton, UT; Louise Jenkins (Eugene), Pasco, WA; Richard Q. LeDosquet (Beth), Rifle, CO; David Q. LeDosquet (Becky); Kent, WA; 24 grandchildren; and 56 great grandchildren; Faye's daughters and families: Christine Noah (Mike), Plano, TX and Tami Lara (Jose), Layton; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. All his descendents gathered in April to honor him on his 90th birthday.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sarah; brother, John Joseph LeDosquet and his sister, Joan Estelle Romney Udall.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Windsor Meadows 1st Ward, 2800 West Gordon Avenue, Layton, UT. Family and friends may call on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 250 N. Fairfield Rd, Layton and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 at the church. Interment will be in Logan City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
