Enlisted at Haynesville, ME Feb 19, 1862 at age 18 as a private into Co H 1st Maine Cavalry. He is listed as wounded at Aldie, VA. June 17, 1863. Listed as POW Oct 12, 1863 at Gaines Crossroads,VA.
Captured March 1, 1864 Dahlgren's Raid, VA. Died as a POW at Andersonville Prison date unknown according to prisoner records.
