Millard D. Thayer, 73, of Papillion, formerly of Fremont, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

He was born Feb. 11, 1940, in Lincoln to William and Lotus (Utterback) Thayer. He was raised in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School. He joined the United States Marine Corp at Camp Pendleton, Calif., in 1957. After his service, he returned to Fremont and started in the trucking industry and drove his entire career. Most recently he had become an avid bowler.

Survivors include: his sons, Billy Thayer of Papillion and Jonathan Thayer of Casey, Iowa; daughters, Laura Sorenson (and fiancé, Glenn Boyington) of Papillion and Debbie Vinal of Commerce City, Colo.; brother, William Thayer of Fremont; sisters, Shirley Adams of Tucson, Ariz., Beverly Murray of Seattle and Linda White of Pipestone, Minn.; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with Chaplain James Jost officiating. There is no visitation. Military honors will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 and American Legion Post 20.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
