Son of Jacob Clark and Mary J Mason. His father was a fisherman and merchant born in New Hampshire and his mother Mary was born in New Hampshire. He was the grandson of William Jr. and wife Susanna Small of Lubec and a brother to William Clark III whose wife was Frances Huckins of North Lubec (daughter of Joseph Huckins and Mary Clark).

Ben married Barbara Ann Pendleton (1835-1886) on Dec. 1854 in Eastport and had children.

Names of children found on the cemetery stone were these: - see note below)
Addie A. Clark (1858-1862)
Charles S. Clark (1860-1893)
Minnie D. Clark (1862-1890)
Jacob S. Clark (1865-1870)
May S. Clark (1868-1904)
Harry Clark (1884-1891) (see note)

Notes: Benjamin may have had two daughters named Adelaide A. or called Addie, one lived to adulthood. The last child Harry looks like born in 1884, a big gap from the prior child born in 1865, so this date may be in error or this was a grandchild.

Benjamin and Barbara were in the 1860 census in Eastport. In that census Barbara had been born in New Brunswick and they had children Adelaide age 4 and Charles age 2. In 1870 he had children Charles S. age 12, Druscilla age 10 (Minnie) and Mary S. age 5 (Addie was missing).

In 1880 Benjamin was in the census in Eastport with his parents both born in NH; he was 45 and a fisherman. Barbara would have still been living but she is not enumerated with him. There was an Annie Clark age 42 born in NB residing in Manchester NH with son Charles S. age 19, daughter Minnie D. age 17 and daughter May S. age 15, children born in Maine, and none having occupations.

In 1900 there was a Benjamin age 63 living in Eastport with his widowed daughter Addie A. Pollard age 39. This census indicates his parents were born in New Hampshire and his occupation was that of a mason. See below, this may not be the same Benjamin.

Benjamin died a widower at age 78 and 4 mos in Eastport of paralysis. Death records indicates died March 27, 1906 and he was born in Eastport to Jacob and Mary J. (Mason) Clark. His age at death and the 1900 census puts his birth as Oct 1826, however the cemetery stone records birth year as 1828.
