Oregon Death Index

Death certificate: #3099.

The Oregonian, Portland, Oregon, Sunday, March 3, 1957, page 42, Daily Vital Statistics, Funeral Notices.
Excerpts:
Martha Reinecke died 1 March 1957. She had lived on SE Tacoma Street. The funeral service was to be held at Immanuel Lutheran church and interment in Lincoln Memorial Park. Funeral directors were McGinnis & Wilhelm. Survivors were listed as two sons, Conrad and Alexander; two brothers, John Dames of Porterville, California and Alexander of Oregon City; 4 grandchildren.
[See the funeral notice for additional information.]

I believe Martha is listed as the daughter of Fredrick and Fredrica Dames in the 1880 census, living in Ixonia, Jefferson County Wisconsin. Martha was age 7, and her siblings, two brothers, were listed as F. Henry Dames, age 4, and Alexander Dames, age 5 months. Her father was listed as born in Wisconsin and her mother born in Prussia.

Oregon Marriage Index, 1906-1924:
A listing was found for a Conrad Reinecke who married 16 February 1908, in Washington County, Oregon, to Martha Dawes. [Martha's maiden name was found in other documents as DAMES.]

The US Census for 1910 shows Martha and her husband, Conrad, living in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. This was the first marriage for both of them, they had been married for 2 years, and Martha is listed, in this census and others, as born in Wisconsin. Her husband was born in Germany and was a shoemaker. Martha had given birth to only one child, listed as a 7 month old son named Conrad Jr, born in Oregon.

In 1920, Martha, her husband, Conrad, and now 2 sons were still living in Portland. Her two sons were listed as 10 year old Conrad and 8 year old Alexander.

In 1930, Martha and her two sons were still living together in Portland, but she was listed as widowed. In 1940, Martha is living by herself and the additional information about her is that she had an 8th grade education.

[NOTE: The Oregon Death Index showed a Conrad Reinecke died in Portland, Oregon, 29 December 1923.]
