FRED ALBRECHT, JR.
July 26, 1937 – April 15, 2013
Former San Bernardino Resident and Police Sergeant Fred Albrecht passed away after a long battle with heart disease. He is survived by his loving companion, Patty, son Steve, daughters Lisa and Linda, son-in-law Bob, cousin Bobby Weber, long-time friends Jack Brown and Bob Ramirez all of San Bernardino. Fred retired in 1991 as Police Chief in Clayton, CA. He had a 31-year career in law enforcement and was an Army veteran. Most notably, Fred was honored and recognized in solving two cold case murders—in San Bernardino in the 60s, and a double murder in Grand Junction, CO in the 70s. Fred's diligence in the evidence he collected at the scene made it possible for DNA matching. Fred can truly rest in peace knowing justice has been served, and the murderers are serving life sentences.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, May 10, 10:00 a.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, San Bernardino.
