He served in the Army during the Korean War and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. on June 28, 1991, after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and served on the board and audit committee for 46 years at Telco Credit Union, now known as Members 1st. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church. Charlie will always be remembered for his sweet loving nature and his service and devotion to his Lord and his family.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Norma J. Dunn; sons, Andy R. and Phillip D. Dunn; his parents; and five brothers, Raymond L., Melvin, Clyde, Jack and Billy Joe Dunn. Charles is survived by daughter, Susan K. Shewmaker and husband James B.; daughter-in-law Debra Dunn; grandchildren, Tammy Alvarado and husband Jay, Todd Shewmaker and wife Candes, Christopher L. Dunn and wife Gwen and Emory Dunn; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Christian and Joshua Alvarado, Tucker and Carsen Shewmaker and Rylee Dunn; and much loved nieces and nephews.
His race is run. He has received his crown of victory through faith in Jesus. He was a good and faithful servant. Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Seaside Chapel with Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
