Services for John H. "Bill" Tibbit, age 90, of Winnsboro, LA will be at 10:00 AM, on Monday May 2, 2005 in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. Carl Gulde officiating. Burial will follow in Crowville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.

Mr. Tibbit was a member of Taylor Bayou Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, 10th Armored Division, Patton's 3rd Army, received a Bronze Star and was a Purple Heart recipient twice and a member of the Royal order of the Purple Heart.

Mr. Tibbit was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Tibbit, his parents; Golden and Mary Lou Tibbit; two brothers; Jess W. Tibbit and William G. Tibbit.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Spearman Tibbit, of Winnsboro; his two daughters, Vivian Meriweather and her husband, Micheal of Yulee, FL, Gwendolyn Smith and her husband, Homer of Clewiston, FL; his son, John Tibbit, Jr. and his wife, Connie of Crowville, LA; his three sisters: Polly Miller, Mattie Williams and Etta Pendry; his two brothers, Quinton Tibbit and G.M. Tibbit, Jr; his seven grandchildren and twelve great-granchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
