Ernest McClure, 88, of Fresno, California, died Friday, April 3, 1987 at a hospital in Fresno. Graveside services were held the following Wednesday at Reedley District Cemetery.

The eldest child of George M. and Belle (Colver) McClure, Ernest was born April 15, 1898 in Pretty Prairie, Kansas. He was married there to Elizabeth Prehiem on November 11, 1922.

Ernest served in the signal corps in the 35th Division during World War I. He saw active service in the Wesserling and Gerardmer sectors, in Alsace, on the St. Mihiel front (reserve), in the Meuse-Argonne offensive, and in the Sommediew sector near Verdun. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the World Wide Church of God.

He was a salesman for International Harvester in Hutchinson, Kansas for many years. He also worked for the company in Kingman and in Wichita before moving to Fresno in 1943.

Survivors at the time of his passing were his widow, Betty; a daughter, Betty Ann Jones of St. Paul, Minnesota; three grandchildren; sisters, Twila Stucky of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, Edna Tinney of Hulbert, Oklahoma, and Mildred Belcher of Kingman, Kansas.
