John Stovall Borroum was born August 24, 1885, in Mineral, Bee County, Texas, to James Henry Borroum and Lula "Sallie" Stovall Borroum. John was short, stout, had brown eyes and dark hair. He was married to Beulah Lee Hale in about 1907. They had one daughter, Margaret. He was employed by A. Deutz & Brother, Hardware in Laredo , Webb County, Texas. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER from June 25, 1918 until January 15, 1919. Special Rangers usually were not paid rangers, but had the same authoity as Regular Rangers. My father, who was a Special Ranger, often said that Special Rangers made the same target as one who was drawing money. John Stovall Borroum died February 9, 1951, in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, in Los Angeles County, California
