Fred L. Morgan, Jr.
Guyton – Fred L. Morgan, Jr., 87, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013 at Candler Hospital after a brief illness. Jr. was born April 3, 1926 in Clyo and grew up in Guyton.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, first class tinkerer, self made engineer without a degree, animal whisperer, avid reader, and a farmer. In short a retiree who never retired. He retired from Union Camp Corporation after 40 plus years. Jr. (Smiley) was a former member of McClaws Hunting Club, Continental Can, and Shrimp Creek Hunting Clubs. He was a dedicated member of Pine Street Baptist Church for many years and had served in the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred L. and Emma T. Morgan, two brothers, three sisters, and special dog, Leroy.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth B. Morgan; children, Sharon E. Morgan, Debra M. (Curtis) Scruggs, Kay M. (Chuck) Evans, and Fred L. (Tomara) Morgan, III; grandchildren, Jamie Tucker, Kristopher Brackbill, Joshua Forbes, Troy, Gage, and Hunter Morgan; numerous great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; very special friend, Harold Eubanks, Jr.; and his canine companion, Jessie.

Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Pine Street Baptist Church followed by funeral services at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Chris Roberson officiating.

Interment will follow in Guyton Cemetery.

Remembrances may be given to Pine Street Baptist Church Property Fund, P.O. Box 125, Guyton, GA 31312.
