Death of Nonagenarian
Jacob Catt, a pioneer citizen of Hancock county, died last week at the home of his daughter Mrs. [Big Blotch in this area] Parker, at Irvington. Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the home of another daughter, Mrs. William Thomas of Greenfield. Rev. C. E. Line of Muncie, was in charge. A few years ago Mr. Catt was converted under the preaching of Rev. Line and became a member of the Bradley M. E. church.
Mr. Catt was born at Mad River, OH., Oct. 6, 1821. He was in good health for a man of his age until about three weeks ago when he fell and broke a hip. He was a brother of W. Smith Catt, who, with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Beason, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Catt, Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Beher, Mrs. Margaret Newsom and Mrs. John Miner and daughter Mabel attended the funeral.
