Phyllis L. Rossiter Schrempp, age 67, of Yankton, died on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Yankton with the Rev. Ken Bain officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation was Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with a Vigil Service and Video Tribute at 7 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Honorary pallbearers will be the Red Hat Ladies and Diane Tunge, Diane Steckelberg, and Virginia Larson. Pallbearers will be V. E. Rossiter Jr., Don Rossiter, Jeff Benjamin, Zach Benjamin, Lonnie Schrempp, Jeff Schrempp and Tim Schrempp. Phyllis was born on May 13, 1941 at Yankton to Vincent E. and Rhea (Schmiedeskamp) Rossiter. She grew up in Hartington, NE and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1959. She attended Duchesne College in Omaha for a short time and then worked for the Toy National Bank in Sioux City, IA. Phyllis married Leon Schrempp on Oct. 14, 1961 at Hartington. They made their home in Yankton where in the 1970's Phyllis taught preschool at the La Petite Academy for five years. Phyllis was a veteran of real estate. She was a consistent million dollar sales associate. Phyllis earned her designations in the Graduate Realtors Institute (GRI) and as a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS). Phyllis was a bright shining star of enthusiasm for all her fellow associates and the real estate profession. Phyllis was always cheerful and positive, a friend to many, always a mentor, and forever caring. Phyllis was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Yankton and the Red Hat Ladies. She enjoyed company, watching the birds in her backyard, and watching the cooking channel. She loved vacationing and camping with her family, going to Hawaii with her mother, and watching her grandchildren's' activities. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Leon Schrempp of Yankton; three children, Scott Schrempp and his wife, Janet, of Hartington, NE, Jaci Benjamin and her husband, Jeff, of Yankton, Brad Schrempp and Kim King of Yankton; seven grandchildren, Hannah and Emily Schrempp, Zachary and Brianna Benjamin, Hailey, Molly and Christian King; three brothers and their wives, V. E. Jr. and Joyce Rossiter of Hartington, NE, Don Rossiter of Hartington, NE, and Max Rossiter of Fresno, CA; two sisters, Carol Rossiter and her husband, Steve Sturek of Macon, GA, and Mary Beth Rossiter of Boulder, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Greta Frantz. Wintz & Ray Funeral Home of Yankton is in charge of arrangements.
